My trusty office chair has had a busted tilt limit mechanism for several years now. Today I decided to repair it. One part of the tilt mechanism (forward tilt) was just stuck. The rear tilt limit mechanism has a broken cam gear. Luckily, that part is only 10 bucks!
While I had the chair apart for diagnosis, I gave the seat a thorough cleaning. Nearly 20 years of denim scraping across the mesh had made some pretty industrial strength dust.
Soon, this chair will go to work with me and my home office will get the new Aeron drafting stool, which will work much better with the giant drafting table I’m using as a desk.

Did you ever get your forward tilt limiter unstuck? I have one that is stuck right now.

I did indeed. However the first part I ordered turned out to be incorrect and I had to call a guy at a parts place and get the right part. Apparently my chair is a very early rev.
